SAFETY BARRIERS AND ISOLATORS FOR ZONE 1
Various protective measures exist to prevent ignition sparks in a hazardous atmosphere, and INTRINSIC SAFETY plays a major role amongst them. It requires a technical analysis of the entire circuit, from the power supply unit, users and cables. When intrinsically safe field devices are used (sensors, valves, transmitters), this requires intrinsically safe barriers. These barriers create a safe limit for the amount of energy within the electrical circuit, so that no ignitable spark or thermal sources of ignition can be created. This type of protection significantly simplifies the installation, handling and maintenance of field devices, as these activities can be performed during ongoing operation.
SAFETY BARRIERS
Our robust safety barriers are designed for practically every type of application and ensure a safe connection to the automation system. They connect intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe circuits, for example Ex i field devices with an automation system. In general, the 4 ... 20 mA standard signals are used, but R. STAHL can also provide solutions for less common signals. Our portfolio includes single-channel and two-channel safety barriers, as well as safety barriers with electronic current limiting.
ISOLATORS
R. STAHL isolators stand out thanks to their versatile application options and high compatibility with automation systems such as DeltaV. Be it transmitters, proximity switches, indicator lamps or horns, there is a suitable solution for every type of application. Our portfolio includes all signal types, from simple switching repeaters and supply units for HART transmitters to high-functional temperature transmitters with trip amplifier functions. Our isolators meet all requirements of industrial processes, as well as those of mechanical engineering. With a width of only 12.5 mm, they can save up to 30 percent of space in the control cabinet.
