The surveillance of hazardous process areas in chemical and pharmaceutical companies frequently presents a major cost factor. This particularly applies to plants where extensive piping, decentrally placed reactors and transport equipment or remote loading and unloading stations require guard tours by specially trained staff. R. STAHL's IP-based camera systems are an economical alternative for safely identifying potential hazards and reducing personnel costs. As a one-stop supplier, the Ex-protection expert not only has hardware in its portfolio, but also offers a service package that includes customer-specific planning, project engineering, configuration and commissioning of the CCTV systems as well as corresponding training.

R. STAHL's tried and tested solutions for the surveillance of extensive areas are based on a combination of fix cameras with series EC 94x PTZ remote pan and tilt cameras with optical zoom. Certified according to ATEX, IECEx, NEC, CEC and EAC for hazardous Zones 1, 2, 21, 22, the cameras provide detailed images even in difficult light thanks to full HD resolution and low-light technology.

Whilst the static camera versions are restricted to a fixed image section, R. STAHL's PTZ cameras (pan/tilt/zoom) can focus on any point in an area and zoom in to relevant details with the 30x optical zoom. In addition, the highly flexible cameras can focus on and zoom in on programmed preset positions within a second at the push of a button. If required, this focus on a position can also be initiated via external contact. Thanks to their versatile range of functions, the EC 94x PTZ cameras are also ideal for performing virtual guard tours along piping. Public areas or zones that should or must not be visible can simple be hidden in the corresponding image sections via the dynamic private zone masking function. Electronic image stabilisation ensures that the image on the screen remains sharp even when wind speeds are high.

The advanced radiometric functions of the new Thermal imaging camera series EC-840S-TIC ensures that potential sources of fire are spotted at an early stage. False alarms are avoided thanks to the integrated analytic software that checks apparent flames against the thermal image.

For sight glass monitoring, R. STAHL has optimised the EC-910 full HD compact camera especially for this purpose. Its 3x and 10x zoom enables the camera to focus exactly on the desired image section. The camera's high light sensitivity together with the wide dynamic range function mean that the product can be assessed even in difficult light and unwanted secondary effects occurring during the process can be detected promptly, thus avoiding product loss or damage. Even under changing light conditions or with irritating reflections, the optical auto-focus-zoom ensures consistently high image quality.

Since R. STAHL's network cameras are equipped with the standardised ONVIF protocol, they can easily be integrated into existing video systems. Moreover, the CAYUGA video management software from our technology partner QOGNIFY ensures that unauthorised staff or incorrectly placed materials are automatically spotted and reported by the alarm management. Customers receive comprehensive support from R. STAHL's experienced engineers for their system customization.
