R. STAHL introduces a completely new generation of robust switches for positioning, controlling and monitoring of movable machine and plant components. As of now, the new position switches will be available in three different variants; two are made of glass fibre reinforced polyamide (GRP) and the other version is made of metal.
The switchgears ensure type of protection "Increased safety" (Ex "e") and are certified for use in Zone 1/21 and 2/22 pursuant to ATEX and IECEx. All three variants are suitable for worldwide applications, including extreme climate zones, and have EAC and PESO certifications. The two GRP types have in addition a cCSAus certification. Furthermore they fulfil the requirements on position switches with safety functions relevant to EN 50041/47 and IEC 60947-5-1 and, with the appropriate circuitry in connection with a protective door monitor, they provide device safety up to SIL 3 or PL "e".
The compact switches series 8060/2 and the larger version series 8070/2, both with a plastic enclosure and ingress degree of protection IP66/67, may also be applied in environments where the temperatures are extreme, in a range of -60 °C up to +60 °C. The third series are the new positions switches in a metal enclosure with stainless steel cover. Device type 8074/2 feature ingress degree of protection IP66 and withstand temperatures of -40 °C up to +70 °C.
R. STAHL provides the new switch series with snap action and slow action in various contact forms. They are available with different actuating elements as well as with 4 x 90° adaptation and positive opening operation. The circuitry, a 2-pole contact system with galvanic separation, enables 1,800 operating cycles per hour, with a maximum service life of 1 million tripping operations. All dimensions and characteristic values of the devices fully comply with the current requirements of EN 50041 and EN 50047.
