Digital light management with DALI in hazardous areas

R. STAHL is a pioneer in digitally networked explosion-protected lighting solutions

Ex DALI digital light management R. STAHL

R. STAHL is one of a small number of manufacturers of explosion-protected lighting solutions for digital networking with DALI in its product range. Linear luminaires and emergency luminaires are therefore already currently available with an optional integrated DALI interface according to IEC 62386. This means that consistent and modern light management can be implemented in hazardous areas in zones 1/21 and 2/22. Digital networking makes it easier to illuminate industrial plants whereby the lighting is adapted to the relevant tasks. It enables a reduction in energy consumption and simultaneously extends the service life of general and emergency lighting.

Per DALI bus, 64 actuators can be linked in various topologies. Every network can be integrated into the higher-level building automation system via a gateway. Lighting ballasts that are controlled via the DALI protocol can be switched individually and synchronously. Around 200 programmable commands are available. Different lighting levels and dimming behavior for LEDs can be defined for every luminaire and light group. Using time control or via connected presence and daylight sensors, the light intensity is automatically adjusted to the operational processes or surrounding brightness. In addition, bidirectional DALI communication enables both the transfer of switching commands and the communication of status and function data to the bus master. The automatic retrieval of switching states, error messages and brightness values enables modern forward-looking maintenance concepts designed to minimize downtime.

R. STAHL provides system operators with extensive support from planning to installation and programming, right through to the commissioning of digitally networked lighting systems in hazardous areas.
