R. STAHL announces the expansion of its product portfolio of intrinsically safe ISpac isolators in a slim device size of just 12.5 mm. The new series ISpac 9265, which is now available, includes slim analogue output isolators in one- and two-channel versions for HART output signals of 0/4 mA to  20 mA. In addition to space-saving dimensioning, the new models are ideal for a temperature range of -40 °C to +70 °C, which is very high in comparison to similar products on the market.

The isolators specified for Ex i-protected signal transmission from control valves, positioner and indicators are equipped with a galvanically isolated input and output and auxiliary power. They fulfil the safety requirements in accordance with SIL 2 and feature a short-circuit monitoring function that can be disabled. Thanks to the slim enclosure design, installation space can be reduced by approximately 30%. As a result, more components can be installed in the cabinet and higher signal densities can be achieved. In addition, energy consumption is reduced by approximately 35% compared to the previous version.

Thanks to the isolators from series 9265 permitted for installation around the globe in Zone 2 and NEC Class I, Div. 2, almost the entire ISpac range will soon be available in a slim 12.5 mm version. These available products are highly compact solutions for safe field device operation in hazardous areas up to Zone 0, and, almost without exception, they meet the functional safety requirements in accordance with SIL 2 or SIL 3. Tested operating periods of at least 15 years guarantee above-average availability over the long term as well as a high level of fail-safe reliability. All modules can be mounted either directly on the DIN rail or snapped on without tools using pac-Bus terminals such that they are resistant to vibrations. The pac-Bus system permits additional devices to be installed in series at any time and supplies up to 40 modules with auxiliary power. A diagnostics-friendly collective fault signalling function is available in conjunction with the supply module 9193.
