As of now, R. STAHL offers the extra-low voltage plugs and sockets series 8573 in the product portfolio. This series has been developed pursuant to the latest standards and in compliance with IEC EN 60309-1/-2. The devices, available as 2-pin and 3-pin versions, are designed for voltages up to 50 V and currents up to 16 A. The plugs and sockets offer ingress protection IP66 and have sealed pins or contacts, which reliably prevent ingress of dirt and/or water into the enclosure. High-quality, self-cleaning contact materials minimize the contact resistance and protect against corrosion even in aggressive gas atmospheres. The enclosures are made of glass-fibre reinforced polyamide to protect them against chemicals and mechanical damages. With their extended temperature range, from -50 °C to +60 °C, they are ideally suited for use in extreme climatic zones and in maritime environments.
The new series 8573 is certified for global application in Zone 1/21 and Zone 2/22 and includes sockets for wall mounting and flange mounting, as well as a coupler and a plug. The rotary-switch mechanism ensures secure connection and reliable disconnection and in parallel features a mechanical interlock for the plug. Speed of electrical installation is driven by the deep-drawn enclosure design, which allows a superior access to the terminals.
The small dimensions of the flange socket allow installation even in tight installation spaces. The floating pins design reduces the insertion and separating forces. An integrated, internal fold-out strain relief offers additional pull-out protection against mechanical loads on the cables.
